I am such a sucker for period films. My all time favorite is A Room with a View, loved that since it came out. So I fell over this one at the rental place yesterday, because it's a period film, and because Peter O'Toole's name enticed me. Hard to believe, but the man is still improving with every film, despite his impressive age. The last I saw of him, Venus de Milo, is also recommendable. But this one...much greater than the sum of its parts! The story itself was intriguing, humorous, and touching. And Peter O'Toole was priceless. Do see it for yourselves!

oooo I will ask my rental place if they have it. I LUUV peter o'toole, he's a fresh and sassy one.
thanks for the suggestion.
Might have to at that!
Check out Venus de Milo while you're at it. This one is based on a book as well, which I'm now set on getting my hands on!
Oh, yes please! Brilliant. And I still have a serious thing for Sam Neill since my pre-teen Ivanhoe years. Can't help it. "Rebecca! Rebeccaaaa!"
He plays excellently as well! Don't think I saw that one, but I've got him firmly placed with Nicole Kidman, on a boat, being terrorized by Billy Zane. Can't quite shake that one.
Excellent! I'm going to check out both of those (NOT Dead Calm... uggh) as I, too, love Room With A View.
Dead calm, that was the name. No, not gonna be seeing that either! *shivers*
Oooh, that looks excellent. LOVED the tripping the kid scene, hehe. I adore Jeremy Northam as well, so this is a must rent.
I wonder how he's failed to escape me until now! My friend keeps plugging The Tudors though, maybe I should have a go! Where have you seen him before?
