And you know me, I had to get to the root of things, so I mailed them, and asked.
I just got my answer today.

You may need to click to enlargen. Is it true? Anyone in Germany that can answer this? Are you all hairless? Answer anonymously if you must, but this is driving me nuts.
Am I just some sort of hairy hippie? Didn't you people see the Vagina Monologues? The house needs a lawn.

You are quite the researcher!!! ;o) But since I am not from Germany, I will refrain from answering. lol.
But this was a great post!
You know, I can't speak about German nads *but* in the UK, it is so common for both men and women to at least trim their pubic hair that "crabs", or pubic lice are in danger of going extinct.
I think David Attenborough, if he is serious about conservation, should set up some wildlife parks to protect this species.
You curious pussy cat!
Nice you asked so we dont have to.
OMG this is funny. I can't believe you wrote to them about it! I may have German heritage but as I've never dated one... can't help you!
Fascinating! *lol*
To be honest, I haven't seen enough naked Germans to give a statistically valid opinion, but I don't remember them all being shaved, but then again, I wasn't really paying attention.
I am German and that is total news to me...lololol
I think I have seen enough naked Germans to tell you that being hairless down there is not the norm..lolol.
I think it is too funny of you to research it......
Kelli - my curiousity is sometimes badly put to use!
Season - hahaha, too funny. Well now, we should be putting the whole planet in a conservatory....on another planet. hm.
June - you're welcome!
Patti - I may need to go undercover for this one. Literally.
May - Pay attention next time, will you?! Geez :-)
Susanne - I don't know you, do I?! But, I'm glad to hear your real life experience with this. Need more Germans to balance it out a little though. Hey, ask around! Just kidding.
"The house needs a lawn" Classic!!
Sparx - am I right? *Ricky Gervais voice*
Am more wondering how he got them to strip lol.
hey! i'm german and.. totally agree with susanne!! that sebastian kempa is not telling the truth. also, loved that you researched it. lol. i mean, when do you get to answer an e-mail with 'i think most germans are shaven' in your life?
Jenny, you are SO funny!! I love that you emailed them.
Kat - Sometimes, I just have to get to the bottom of things!!!
Hey Jennie, just read this and being German as well, I think it's about 50/50. But I have to say usually one should at least have a trim down there, especially in the summer. We think it's very strange when women wear a bikini and hair is sticking out everywhere :-) On the other hand I know lots of people who prefer to be bare down there, some even use laser treatments to get rid of it...
Jennie, as a german speaking man I have to comment something to your great post.
I think that as much as " The house needs a lawn" the same house needs care with mowing it.
I do agree that some techniques are quite absurd but still I prefer a well kept "down under".
;-)
Paul
Paul and Jen - I'll remember that if we ever hit the beach together :-D
This is the best post ever!! Thank you, Jennie, for being such an excellent sleuth. Very interesting. Since there are comments from actual Germans that support "trimming" I can't really add anything, but it did cross my mind that perhaps the "sample" on this website is skewed--because they knew they were going to be photographed perhaps they went to extra "lengths" to trim up?
Regardless, it is a wonderful post and a fantastic website. The human body is simply a marvelous thing and I'm very happy to see many of its variations posted on that site.
I am German and we have that saying that hair belongs on the head. Only. Though of course not every German thinks the same. I guess the younger you are, the more likely you are shaved. Or at least trimmed. Appearently the same goes for Danish girls (if you believe my fiancé - though I don't wanna think about how he found out), whereas Danish boys seem to be more of a "nature" kind of boy.
Love, Sarah
Wow Sarah, that I did not know! But um, it doesn't surprise me I guess. I've always viewed Germans as being very neat and tidy *ahem*, so it kinda fits the bill. I just hadn't expected it to be so...proliferant!
i'm not & many aren't. the photographer seems to have a non-hairy taste.
